Summer Time Ball 2026 proved to be our biggest project of the year, bringing together an outstanding team of 97 crew members to deliver a world-class live broadcast from Wembley Stadium. From the first rigging call to the final highlights edit, the scale of the operation reflected the magnitude of one of the UK’s most iconic live music events.
Working alongside Global and Turn Buffalo, our teams were tasked with capturing every moment of the action, ensuring audiences at home could experience the energy, atmosphere, and spectacle of the event as it unfolded live. The production will also continue to reach viewers through the highlights programme airing on ITV this Saturday.
A 40-Camera Broadcast Operation
To cover every aspect of the show, a total of 40 cameras were deployed across Wembley Stadium, providing comprehensive coverage from every possible angle.
The camera plan included:
- 1 × Spidercam
- 2 × Tower Cameras
- 1 × Agito Remote Dolly System
- 3 × Sony Venice 2 Tracking Cameras
- 2 × Sony F5500 RF Cameras
- 1 × 24ft Jib
- 1 × Drone
- A fleet of Sony HDC-3500 cameras and ENG crews positioned throughout the venue
This diverse camera setup allowed the production team to seamlessly capture everything from sweeping aerial shots and dynamic stage movements to intimate artist moments and crowd reactions, delivering a truly immersive viewing experience.
Technical Infrastructure Behind the Scenes
Supporting the live production were OB1 and OB3, operating together from the compound and forming the technical backbone of the broadcast.
The operation was further enhanced through a networked workflow featuring:
- 3 XT-VIA servers
- 18 edit suites
This infrastructure enabled the team to deliver both the live broadcast and the post-event highlights package efficiently, ensuring rapid turnaround without compromising quality.
A Team Effort on a Massive Scale
Productions of this size are only possible through the collaboration of exceptional people across every department. From rigging, engineering, and technical management to camera operators, guarantees, vision teams, production staff, and riggers, every individual played a crucial role in bringing the show to life.
The success of Summer Time Ball 2026 stands as a testament to the dedication, expertise, and teamwork demonstrated throughout the project.
A huge thank you to everyone involved for their hard work, commitment, and professionalism. Delivering an event of this scale is no small feat, and the result was a spectacular broadcast that showcased the very best of live television production.
