Over Exposed is proud to have successfully delivered six days of live ITV coverage for the 2025 Tour of Britain, one of the UK’s most prestigious men’s cycling events.
Operating from a compact Outside Broadcast (OB) truck equipped with five Sony camera channels, the Over Exposed team deployed an array of technology including an RF presentation camera, a finish-line mini-cam, three RF motorbikes, and a helicopter feed relayed via plane. This setup ensured dynamic, uninterrupted coverage from the start in Ipswich to the final stage in Cardiff.
The RF motorbikes and helicopter transmitted live pictures to a relay plane, which then fed signals back to the OB truck at the finish line — a demanding workflow given the long distances and challenging terrain. Delivery to broadcasters was secured via dual path SNG, guaranteeing resilient transmission throughout the event.
Despite overnight moves between finish locations, the production team achieved a daily three-hour rig time — an unusually tight turnaround for a project of this scale. With crew on the road for a week, moving the entire operation overnight and rigging each day in record time, the production was a true team effort.
On site, two dedicated edit suites cut features and produced a nightly highlights show for ITV, ensuring cycling fans could relive the best moments each evening.
Over Exposed worked in close partnership with EMG, who provided additional RF infrastructure, relay plane operations, and technical crew. The seamless integration of both teams ensured the highest level of broadcast quality across all six stages.
“This project was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our technical expertise and passion for live sports broadcasting,” said Russell Martin, Managing Director at Over Exposed. “We’re delighted to have played a role in bringing the excitement of the Tour of Britain to viewers across the country.”
